Selling Flash

4 messages · last activity 5/1/2006

I have been drawing for a while now, and have been collecting ink for about 8 years. I draw most of my own tattoos, and alot of my friends have had me draw designs for them to get inked in. I was curious about trying to get some sheets of flash put together and trying to sell them to some of the local tattoo studios. I was hoping to recieve some advice from shop owners and flash artist as to how big to make the sheets, about how much to try and charge per sheet, and roughly how many individual designs you would put per sheet. I have a link to my album on photobucket, it has about 20 or so designs I have scanned onto my pc so far. Any advice on selling or criticism of my designs would be appreciated. Thanks. http://s31.photobucket.com/albums/c395/danandorr/
Most shops prefer 11x14 inch bristol board or good heavyweight paper stock....as far as how many designs on a page...that will differ from shop to shop...I think you will find that street shops that do nothing but flash work will want more and smaller designs...designs that are quick to do without a lot of detail....some custom shops do not even display flash bu those that do usually prefer larger more intricate designs. I went to the photo bucket site and took a look ...at this point if I were you I would work on improving my skills mostly in the coloring area ....go to any site that sells flash and look I mean really look and compare the quality of their art and yours...I am not tryin to be a a#$hole but ya need to polish it up a bit friend........TAz
Thanks for the information and the critique. I took a look at some other flash, and yeah, I see what you mean about the coloring. Need to get more solid with it. You have any advice as far as how much I should try to charge once I get some sheets together?
Thats kinda like goin to a car lot and askin"how much are your cars"...Every artist depending upon skill level and popularity can charge differently....anywhere from five bucks a sheet to whatever...can't really pin down any further man ...TAz
