Should tattoo be finshed by another person

I had a chinese style tattoo done on my shoulder about a year ago and hoped to add on to it but when i went back to college i lost touch with my tattoo artist, i really liked his work and how he sat down and drew it out with me so my ideas were fully brought out. But i guess while i was gone things got hard and his girlfriend left him, to make a long story short...... He sold his shop, now im wondering if i should just leave the tattoo as is or could someone continue on for me but still keep the style the same so its not noticable that two different people worked on it

the way I see it is you can do anything you want to your tattoos for any reason, they are on your body and an artist doesn't have ownership of it. That said, I think its only ethical to change artists if you find someone more talented and in essence compliment the first artist (whether they deserve it or not) by your choice of who will finish it.

I agree with the both of these men. But I'd like to throw in my fifty words or better. Take a look through the galleries and look at the colloborated pieces that some of these artists have done. The final outcome is amazing, looks like one solid tattoo. I'd do some serious searching if I were you and don't be afraid to ask your potential artist if they've ever done such a thing as youre' asking, I"m sure you'll be surprised that many have. Do remember that it's ultimately your choice to let someone put needle to your skin. Make sure you pick the right person.

Oh oh , and although it's not impossible to mimic another artist's style it is a special talent not all artists posess. I'm also guessing that by chinese style you're meaning oriental? Often referred to as japanese or even asian. At any rate there are quite a few great artists out there that spend their entire careers attempting to perfect that sort of art. You're in luck if you ask me. And good luck to you.
