Suicidal Look Back!!!!!!!

6 messages · last activity 9/1/2007

Hi everyone. I am 17 years old and I will be 18 in three days. I am strongly thinking of getting a small tattoo on my inner wrist with the chinese symbol for courage. I want something that symbolizes how I overcame years of being suicidal and a cutter( hence the inner wrist) does everyone think this is a good idea? And if so any ideas to help make it unique?I would also like make it known that I am not getting one just because I am turning 18. I I feel very passionate about having a tattoo that symbolizes some form of strength. But nothing too bold because I plan to be a teacher.
Please excuse the errors
Yah a get a dotted line
I personally hate Chinese symbols. two reasons: 1. You don't REALLY know if they say what you want them to. 2. If you're not Chinese, and you don't SPEAK Chinese, why the hell would you get something in a language you don't know on you? Why not a lotus? it represents rebirth and inner beauty, very suitable for your reason to get one. "lotus flower tattoos are also popular for people who have gone through a hard time and are now coming out of it. Like the flower they have been at the bottom in the muddy, yucky dirty bottom of the pond but have risen above this to display an object of beauty or al ife of beauty as the case might be. Thus a lotus flower tattoo or blossom can also represent a hard time in life that has been overcome."
I think you can get whatever appeals to you. Because if we are going to say that is wrong to get chinese ideograms if you are not chinese, under the same theory you shouldn't get bioMeach because you are only human, No tribals unless you live in a tribe, no traditional japanese if you are not japanese, no sailor work if you don't sail. Although I have to agree with the last poster, I hate kanjis and i hate tribal (I have both) lol
I have a tattoo of a scarab over a coffin. Kinda symbolizes rebirth from being close to death. Research things.... find something more personal. Do something other then a kanji, I really think you should search deeper.
