surgical scars

I have several surgical scars due to a botch breast reduction which left me with no nipple and a raised scar around the areola. I’ve spoken to a couple of doctors who advise they have several methods of tattooing a life-like nipple. I already have 6 tattoos and I’ve also spoke with several tattoo artists who say they can’t cover scar tissue. That the ink won’t take. What’s the real deal here? It’s been over 3 years since my last surgery and the scars are permanent now. I’m sick of looking at them daily, there a bad reminder. Any suggestions or recommendations for tattoo artist. Thanks.
