Tattoo art in general

For you pros out there, do any of you find yourselves better at one style of tattooing? I have been to a good number of shops and find that if you go through the photo albums, you find a lot of the same style, be it Japanese, Traditional, Modern, what have you. I just wonder if it has more to do with the artist, or more to do with the clientele in the area. Or is is a little of column A and a little of Column B?

It's a little of both. Naturally it is a good idea for an artist to be schooled in all forms of art. But then again we are all human and have our own personal tastes and distastes. I think that the reason when you travel to different shops or see artists work in books or magezines that almost seem repeating or of the same style is that artist, at one point in there career, created an amazing tattoo in a particular style. Then through whatever means that art made it's way to the public. In turn, several people seek out that artist for work in that particular style. Easy example that comes to mind is Guy Aitchison. How many pictures of Guy's work have you seen that resemble the same ideas of bio-mech/organic art. I am sure that Guy is MORE than capable of tattooing anything that he wants but that is what is best known for right now. The same goes with anyone else. Disclaimer...Only my opinion..... J
