Tattoo Artist: How do i?

I was wondering if anyone knew how to become a tattoo artist? Not the guy who applies the tattoo's; i wanna be the one that draws and creates them. If i had to guess, i'd say all i have to do is submit my work to a company, but how do i go about doing that, and do i copyright it first? how much should i sell it for? does anyone know of a site or book i can check out? -mshguy88
