tattoo issue

I hd a wrist piece done, on Monday 8/27. (its only Wed I know) but I've had several tats before and although they have all been on my back in places less likely to pick up bacteria from a counter or other surface - I'm a bit concerned that about 3 inches around the actual ink it is red swollen and very heated! The tat looks like it's healing very nicely, it's just the surrounding area. I have washed it with antibacterial soap, I've kept it coated with curel lotion and now I am using Eurcyin. My artist was well known and the salon was absolutely clean... my tat is red/blue/black and orange... the pain goes all the way up to my shoulder - does anyone have any other suggestions? If this does not get better soon I'll see my doctor I just want to avoid going if this is just normal healing..... suggestions?
