hey, my dad wants me to get a logical job like docter or something of that sort. anyways my mom has tons of tattooes which is like tottally awesome my mom wants me to be happy with my job okay. right worng so anyways i really wanna be a tattoo artist my dad says thats not art. what should i do? any help would be great
The first thing to do is...respect your fathers opinion ...then ignore it!!!! If you are dedicated to the ART (yes it is one of the oldest documented artforms) spend the next few years researching the art, drawing, taking art classes and visiting every tattoo studio you can get to and also go to tattoo conventions!!! This is YOUR life not your parents. I am not saying to disrespect your Dad...honor his beliefs but never at the sake of losing sight of YOUR beliefs. This site can be a deep well of information for your ( yeah Gabe I am suckin up!!!!lol!!!) But it is true.Read all the posts on here and sift out the trash!!...Taz
Hey, I always belive you should follow your heart, not that it's always right, but anyway I have been a tattoo artist for 8yrs, and studied and loved them for much longer. I also have a two year old little girl, (one of her first words was "tattoo"), it was really cute. Anyway being that she'll grow up in a home where her mother is a tattoo artist, and covered in them she probably have a deep appriciation for them. My dream is to one day be a mother/daughter tattoo team, but hey she still working w/ crayola. I would never think of forcing her to follow my dream and I hope she gets a good education, and thinks long and hard about a career before she makes such a decision. There is a big difference between a job and a career, so what ever you decide think it out, weigh your pros and cons. Tattooing is something that you can just jump into, and its not like you can just go take classes at the local college, but if you truely love it then its worth the time and sacrafice to do what you love. Skittlez
Hey skittles you hit it right on the head!...my kids grew up in my shop...my youngest knew he was going to be a tattooist from the age of two!...until he got licensed he drew every day and was an amazing artist.Well he tattooed for 3 years and ,although he loves the art he hated tattooing and quit.I think he burned himself out. He now works as a carpet layer and since that makes him happy I am all for it....my older son never showed the least interest in tattooing until he reached the age of 20 when he started drawing and working as a piercer....well he took to tattooing like the proverbial duck to water. He has been tattooing for 3 years now and passed his brother up after the first year! My point is support your kids in whatever they chose to pursue...I don't care if my kids had wanted to be ditch diggers as long as they took pride in their work and it made them happy!...T
