For all of you peebs interested in the Mani Mantra as a tattoo (Om Ma Ni Peh Me Hung) please respect its sacred importance, its powerful meaning of loving kindness and protection.
from the authority of a Tibetan Lama, who said, "if it is to be tattooed on the body, it should be on the upper torso and not below the waist"
also please be aware of badly drawn scripts in Tibetan and Sanskrit, as the proportions of the letters themselves are also sacred.
the Lama also addes: " the Mani Mantra if constructed properly it has a power, this is called liberation by sight, as all who see or hear the Mantra will be a step closer to an enlightend mind"
so if you are looking for the Mani Mantra or others to be tattooed in the correct way, you may be interested to know that a first class tattooist called Xed of 'intoyou' www.into-you.co.uk

Hi. Thanks for the great information on the mani mantra. Does anyone have a vertical stencil of this as i am wanting it tattoo on the base of my neck...
Any luck on a vertical stencil of the mani mantra - om mani padme hum? Thank you for your help.
I understand that it is possible to have the mani mantra arranged vertically, each syllable placed one below each other.
I have seen this arrangement as a tattoo, in the beautiful and flowing Tibetan drucha script, that the calligraphy artist; Tashi Mannox has especially designed.
I know that one can commission Tashi for the art work of the mani mantra written vertically, or any other arrangment for that matter.
So if you are still looking for a 'stencil' of the mantra written vertically, then contact Tashi... He's the man:

I have been a Buddhist for 40 years, and I am 64. Om Mani Padme Hum (the correct spelling). The meaning is < Om Jewel in the Lotus Hum >
The Om and the Hum are "seed-syllables" use all the time before and after and piece of text. The pronounciation is Ohm Mah Nee Pahd May Hung.
I am looking forward to seeing your tattoos.
Thank you, Enso_

If you are intending the Mani Mantra as a tattoo (Om Ma Ni Peh Me Hung) please respect its sacred importance, its powerful meaning of loving kindness, protection and purification.

To obtain a correct copy of the mani mantra, there is a free PDF file of the mantra on the website of Tashi Mannox, for tattoo designs in Tibetan scripts:
http://www.inkessential.com/sacred.html
This is in the more well known Tibetan Uchen script, though if you are looking for something more personalised and perhaps in another of the several and attractive Tibetan scripts, also possible in a vertical arrangement. Then you can commission Tashi for the custom artwork to be posted out to you.

Hello All of you,
For those who wanted the mantra verticaly,
I had it tattooed on my back last year on my upper spine starting right under the neckline - looks real nice -
For those who are interrested, I can add a picture on the site .
Hi Celine, I would love to see a pic of your tattoo, thats the exact place I want mine done. This mantra means a lot to me as my growing spirituality has helped me through so much over the last few years and I feel so awakened.
