TIBETAN SCRIPT TATTOO DESIGNS

3 messages · last activity 4/22/2008

I just got my second tattoo design from Tashi of www.inkessential.com This was sent as a jpeg image as well as the actual art work posted to me, which i hang framed pride of place. I tell you i cannot sing his praises enough, the quality of his art work/designs seem to be getting better beyond excellence, pushing the limits of Tibetan calligraphy, Tashi is expert in several Tibetan script styles and has a great knowledge in not only the scripts and Tibetan iconogrpahy, but as a translater. He is able to create out-standing beautiful designs, like no other i have seen. I feel has much to do with his background and training as a Buddhist monk for some 17 years. His sense of design is becoming a tattoo style movement in its own right, but without compromising the deep tradition of Tibetan calligraphy and the Buddhist faith, with is powerful imagery, symbolisum and Mantras etc. Tashi's work sets a high standard and leads a good example in correct motivation and proportion in respect to the traditional Tibetan scripts. More over tattooist world wide ask of Tashi His advice and direction in this authority, which puts him on the leading edge of a Tibetan calligrpahy artist as well as the script tattoo designs. Just recently i noticed a new page of 'Tibetan scripts' on Tashi's website: http://www.inkessential.com/scripts.html Which tells of the history and more detail of the scripts themselves, with answers to common misunderstandings and guidlines to good tattoo design. anyway ... enough singing..... i just thought i would share this with you guys, as i feel it is rare you find such a personal service that Tashi provides in such a specialised subject, which would otherwise be hard to find. Dan.
