What percentage does the shop owner take and what is the artists cut from a tattoo normally? Hopefully the artist gets more of a percentage since they are the ones doing the work? I think knowing this, maybe people would tip more accordingly.
Tipping the artist

i tip my artiest just as i would a waitress..........only better most of the time it depends on what i am getting it can be from 5 dollors to 50 dollor tip
percentage take for me is 50/50 i get half i have been tiped any where from the last few bucks in there pocket to as high as 250 bucks generally a 20 dollar tip i feel is pretty norm and fair i feel that if the artist does a great job and you are happy then give the artist a good tip
Depends on how good a job.I have tipped $100 on a $150 tat because it was flawless. Then there were times where I didn't tip at all.
I tipped a couple hundred bucks, mostly because I appreciated the work, but also because I felt the artist was having to work more than I paid for initially.
I just wish I was filthy rich so I could pay more than expected all the time, but don't we all? ;-)
if we all were rich just think of the many tattoos we all would have
percentages vary at most shops, how you tip should reflect on the quality of your tattoo, generally its 20 to 50 and sometimes more, good tattoos arent cheap ,cheap tattoos arent good...
to the artists; in the case of multiple sitting tattoo, would you rather a client tip you respectively for your time every sitting or one nice big tip when it's all done?
either way works fine for me. the only thing that can be a downer about getting a big tip at the end is it doesnt always happen. i did a sleeve on a guy and he said hed take care of me at the end. not that i always expect a tip but when its mentioned and then nothing happens at the end it can be a little bit of bummer. but it was a cool tattoo and he was a good guy to deal with.
