I'm a writer working on a feature story on UV Tattoos -- how they work, why people get them, and what problems some of the ink can sometimes cause--and I’d love hear some people's experiences with UV Tattoos, both the good and the bad.
My email is: [email removed] if anyone's interested in talking outside the forum.
I write for the Columbia News Service, a wire service operated by Columbia University that provides content to 400 newspapers. The stories are published through the New York Times News Service.
Thanks for the interest.

UV Tattoos -- feature story

Although UV tattooing has been around for a while and the quality of the pigment seems to be improving I still will not allow its use in my studios....believe me I would like to use it...there is another local studio that is makin a killin with the stuff however until it is proven to be safe ( as far as anything can be safe when introducing a foreign body into ones skin) I will pass. I would much rather err on the side of caution than not and I believe that my customers appreciate that attitude. These pigments have not at this date been approved by the FDA ( except for use in animals) And although I know of no pigments that actually have formal FDA approval most have undergone extensive testing and have been "given the nod" so to speak by the FDA for use in humans. Just remember when a shop advertises uv ink as being FDA approved ...well yeah it has been...FOR USE ON PIGS AND COWS!!!!!!!!!! Taz
And don't forget those fish!
