voltage drop

i decided to further my knowlegde and build my own gun from scratch.it works however i notice a voltage drop just under a volt.i usually run about 9 volts and the new gun will drop down about .8 when its kicked.any suggestions are greatly appreciated.i know my coils are good as i swapped those out with a couple other sets to try to diagnose.i think it might be a problem with the location of my front contact being to far forward.an oops i made and am going to fix tommarrow.as far as appearence and weight the machine is the finest i have ever seen.however looks dont mean crap if it cant push ink right.
