Whats The best way to get new clients

Im thinking of opening up a tattoo shop in a area were I have no clients whats the best way to get my self out there can anyone help?

Look bud theres no rookie here Ive been tattooing for 7 years and not scratching....just answer the ? if you have any smarter ways to pramote then handing out cards and putting up signs....

ok bud heres how i do it its old but it works flyers hand out lots of flyers give out promotional work to some new found friends.cards pass em out like hot cakes at the free soup line.radio ads are good advertise my man may cost some but it works try the local movie thaters see if they can slide your buiss card in with the before the movie starts previews theres just a cpl also listen to gabe ive been on this site for years and mate hes come a long way with it and see what gabe can do for ya. as for me 10 years tattoo art and going strong mate good luck

good advice. Radio and print tend to be pretty expensive. I'd suggest 1st, good useable website (designed to showcase your work and help book custom tattoos). Then small print ads blasting the website and promoting your work on all the tattoo websites. I would not pay much for pay per click online ads, they are expensive compared to getting natural search engine clicks, but there are a few directories you should get on (the popular ones basically). And you know its gonna take a long time to get that shop humming, building a cliental from scratch is difficult, but the more bad ass and smart you are the better your chances! Good luck.

Everything Gabe said is awesome, and word of mouth is an awesome way to get your name out there. Bang out some amazing word and tell people to pass the info on, give your clients cards, maybe even develop a street team. If your work is good enough eventually the clients will get the word.

another fav of mine is called repeat offender card after so many tattoos they get a tattoo for free.i tell all mine after 5 referals they get free ink its working well.

In todays world having a web site is almost a necessity....I have tried flyers for years and just have never had much success with them...the best advertising dollar for a new shop is the cheap little throw away papers that abound in any city...you can run display ad ( with artwork etc) very inexpensively and also run an assload of reader ads interspersed with the display ads really cheap! And these little papers hang around for a whole week so more chance of people seeing ya! Networking is a must...make friends with bartenders and waiters and give em a shit load of business cards to pass out...strippers will work too!LOL!!! Now if you have the budget for it, advertising on your local cable tv channel is the shit and will get you immediate results...pricey as hell but worth every penny. And you can write yer own script and make the ad look just like YOU want it to look!
