would it look silly to tattoo over large area of freckles

I've been wanting to get a tattoo on each of my shoulder blades, but I have a lot of splotchey freckles covering a majority of my back. I get called lepoard sometimes. I was wondering if it's okay to tat' over them, and if it would look just plain weird and make the freckles stand out even more? I don't know what to do.
