I love every phase of the tattoo process from concept to the final session, but the outline and background are by far my favorite. That is where the most important decisions are made and where the image is created. After that, the rest seems to be dictated to me by those first deciding marks. Whether to go dark or light, bright or subdued… The rest seems to be a consequential chain reaction, of course with some decisions still to be made, but nowhere near as profound as those first marks laid in the skin… The rest is just an unfolding of what is already set to be.
