This destructed city tattoo is inspired by the idea of "the illusion of safety" from Fight Club, as referenced by the band, Thrice. This tattoo is really important to the client, as well as myself. The bewildering concept of 'safety', or the perception of feeling safe, as being an illusion is an absolutely terrifying idea. This image is inspired by that notorious final scene from Fight Club. The crumbling buildings and apocalyptic sky show humanity's frailty and how we are all on the brink of destruction. The caved-in floor, exposing earth's core, depicts the reality that feeling safe in society is just an illusion and that we are all in danger of something. This tattoo is the inner portion of the Sheperd Fairey inspired half sleeve tattoo found elsewhere in my gallery. 5 hours.
