This young collector was a musician heavily influenced by Bob Marley, Rasta culture, and all of the goodness of that lifestyle. We wanted to capture the colorful spirit of the Rastafari while weaving a narrative of their heavy history and the contemplation of their future. To that end, we created some interpretive figures to move through the piece in a winding dance, painted them in the colors of the Jamaican flag, then framed it all in smoke. You can imagine the frame has something to do with all of the joy Bob Marley brought to the world through his music and message. It was a delight to replicate the happy features of Bob and send a young man off with a tattoo that simultaneously summons so much past and hope, and sparks great conversation and knowing smiles anywhere he goes.
