My client came to me to inquire about a pet portrait tattoo after her kitten passed away unexpectedly.

Animal portraiture is my favorite tattoo genre, and I was honored when she chose me to do this very special portrait tattoo of her beloved cat.

My main goal when tattooing an image of this pet, or any of my animal portraits, is to capture first and foremost, the EYES. When you literally FEEL like a tattoo is looking at you, that is when the true essence comes to life making the portrait seem so realistic.

Cats have been a personal favorite animal of mine growing up as a child. I had a tabby tom cat named Tiger and a Himalayan name Kip.

Clients have immortalized their feline companions in their tattoos and body art art since the birth of tattooing.

Most often, the cat tattoo is representative of luck, life after physical death, mystery, quiet intelligence and grace. Of course, there are many variations of feline tattoos, all of which change the deeper meaning of the art. For some people, a cat tattoo can simply represent love for a deceased pet.
