I began tattooing in 1995 at Westside Tattoo in Jacksonville Florida, where I was apprenticed under Rahbe West. After 4 1/2 years building my base skills, Inksmith&Rogers bought the shop I worked at and asked me to stay on as the manager.
For the next 7 1/2 years I worked with a larger group of artists, returned to college to augment my practical experience at the shop with more formal training, and did guest spots at other tattoo studios around the country to polish and broaden my range of skills and styles.
In 2007 I took a spot at a new appointment only studio. After a brief stay, I decided to narrow my focus even more and open my own shop in my childhood neighborhood of Riverside. I officially opened Black Hive Tattoo in January 2009 in an effort to create amore one on one environment for my clients, and a more comfortable working space for my coworkers.
