Artist Spotlight: Jose Baena

Jose Baena will be back in NYC from 9/3 - 11/13/24.

Jose is one of our very talented international resident artists originally from Monteria, Colombia, but living in Medellín where he can be close to his own studio; Black Dagger Tattoo.  

In 2021, 10 Thousand Foxes Tattoo Queens owner Tim assisted Jose in beginning the process of attaining an ’0-1 ‘Visa’.  This visa is dedicated to artists who display extraordinary ability or achievement.  After this year and a half long process, Jose was officially granted his visa.

Jose’s ability level is quite broad, however he excels at both Realistic and Neo-Traditional tattooing; many times incorporating both styles into one project.  He truly enjoys working on large scale projects, where he can help the design fit and flow with the contour of the clients body.  

Currently, Jose travels between NYC and Colombia every few months, keeping connection to his two favorite cities.
