I only use natural wood, never paint or stain, so finding blues and greens is always a challenge. I managed to get my hands on this blue pine log and I’m going to turn it into my own veneer. Blue pine gets its color from a fungus that’s carried by bark beetles. It stains the wood blue without hurting its strength, so the color is completely natural. I’m really curious to see what’s hiding inside once I quarter it and start slicing veneer. Every log is different, and if this one has a lot of blue, it’ll give me colors that are really hard to find naturally.
