This is the first session(s) on Ethan’s Second, much larger tattoo; and his most meaningful. . Ethan planed this tattoo for quite some time. He asked me to create a Nordic Tattoo Sleeve featuring Gungnir on his hand & Yggdrasil on his shoulder. He wanted to prominent Wolf and a Wyrm incorporated into the tattoo. He asked for a few runes, which will come next session, and a Bindrune for Gungnir the spear featured prominently on his hand. - In Norse mythology, an oath sworn upon the tip of Gungnir, Odin’s magical spear, is completely unbreakable. Sealing all who shake on a deal with Ethan to keep that oath or promise. . . Ethan gave me freedom on this piece, and loved what I came up with. Its not often I get to create a wolf going straight up the arm, but the flow worked out perfectly, and allowed me to use the Wyrms body to create knot work that flowed around his arm. Leaving the Wyrm’s mighty head hidden on the inner arm. Only to be shown when he lifts his arm to shake. Reminding us of the forces of Entropy and its constant pull. Ever looming ever waiting to pull us back into nothingness. A force that must be resisted just to maintain. . . Ethan was a bit nervous going into such a large piece, but managed to stay the course. 3 Days in a row. You learn a lot about yourself in those 3 days. Forged in fire, you come out realizing that you can overcome more than you imagine by just learning to let go (and enjoying a few snacks along the way). Day 1 started with drawings and design. We finished the dot work pretty late; later than either of us would have liked but we had a goal. Day 2 and 3 went smoothly, and we were able to accomplish what you see here. He is planning his next trip to Salt Lake City, Utah to add dot work patterns along with some Runes to finish this epic sleeve in early 2027. Stay tuned… always more to come. . . #nordictattoo #gungnir #ancientmarks #vikingtattoo #Yggdrasil
