A brief overview of how my oil painting practice has helped me refine my tattooing techniques

A brief overview of how my oil painting practice has helped me refine my tattooing techniques.

While there is no artistic medium with a direct 1:1 crossover to tattooing, having a parallel practice in any other medium and identifying the helpful overlaps is a major accelerator for a tattooer’s skill set.

Clients: if a tattooer you’re considering working with is proficient in another medium, it’s a promising sign that they will know their stuff when it comes to your tattoo.

Tattooers: I have an in depth video lesson on the topic of layering tattoo pigments available for streaming rental on my website nickbaxter.com, and an oil painting ebook too.
