Coaching has helped me more than almost anything over the years, and when you're at the level to use it, the right coach changes everything.
But there's a difference between can't and stretch. If hiring a coach means your bills don't get paid, that's a flat no, and it just stacks money stress on your burnout.
But if it's doable (maybe a bit tight), then the investment's worth it, because that stretch is sometimes the exact pressure that makes people show up and make it work.
For others, a few things have to happen first before it's even a stretch. There's a lot you can do before a coach is ever on the table.
Take a seminar.
Go to a convention and actually talk to the artists there.
Ask questions of the people in your own shop. Watch artists on YouTube, there's so much great art content out there that translates straight into tattooing if you know how to pull from it.
All of that moves you forward. A coach makes sense when you want accountability that keeps you moving when you'd let yourself off the hook, and when you want to go straight to the source.
And that's the whole series.
The vacation.
Posting more.
Making art you love.
Raising your rates.
And coaching too.
Every single one is good advice at the right time, and the exact thing making your burnout worse at the wrong time.
If you've followed all of it and you know you're ready and it's your time, that's the work we do in my Candid Color Accelerator.
It's a mentorship for professional tattooers who are ready to do more than just
❌️ be a better tattooer
❌️ gain more followers
❌️ make as much money as you can until your body is fucked.
✅️ This is for the ones who are ready to evolve their art and take on the lifelong pull that every artist feels between creating and actually living.
