I think it's safe to say that most people know we "don't yuck on someone's yum" and this goes for tattoo ideas also but did you know it goes for tattoo careers too?
For some artists the dream is doing full tattoo sleeves. One client, one vision, a year or two of
appointments and knowing exactly what they'll be working on every session and chipping
away at it.
For other artists the dream is a sheet of tattoo flash and six clients in a day. A room that never
stops moving, six people, six reasons they walked in. The connection and instant
gratification is the point, and more chairs means more of it.
And there's nothing wrong with that. They're just totally different appetites.
Appetites change because the work you would have killed to do just outside of an apprenticeship might suck the life out of you by 15 years in.
Or the small stuff you swore you'd graduate out of might be the thing that saves your back, your schedule, and your love for the job.
So before you turn your nose up at someone else's dream, check whether you're yucking on
a younger version of yourself. Or a future one.
What's your dream piece right now? Is it the same one you had when you started? 👇
