I approach the beginning of a painting in vastly different…

I approach the beginning of a painting in vastly different ways depending on my mood and my goal, but they all share a similar outlook on composition—built around creating a powerful sense of focus. A simple idea but always challenging to accomplish. The approach used for this painting is an example of my more traditional, orderly, and observational method. Even though I’m generally critical of my own work, the last time I saw this in person I was like damn, that’s pretty good 🤣 (it sparkles and glows, which is my favorite of oil paint’s potential attributes). “Jade & Flame” 11x14in oil on aluminum panel, 2024, collection of @qq_empire_is_timeless @fineartfirst
